CNR Istituto per le Tecnologie Didattiche (ITD) of Palermo

The Istituto per le Tecnologie Didattiche (ITD) is a research Institute of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) founded in 1970. It has two branches in Genova and Palermo. In ITD more than 40 researchers work together in close connection.

The main research activities concern:
- the area "educationally innovative learning environments" is centered on the design, development and testing of new forms of learning environments that integrate technology as an everyday tool;
- the area "integrating technology enhanced learning into organizations" is related to the design of new structural and organizational models to exploit the potential benefits of technology enhanced learning;
- the area "new skills for the knowledge society" focuses on the skills which are necessary to live in the knowledge society, where an increasing body of knowledge is rapidly produced and distributed all over the world; specifically, it is aimed at the identification of these new skills, how they can be developed, the learning environments which make their achievement possible and easy and how they may affect, for example, school curricula or training processes.
ITD is involved in European Research on Educational Technology since 1988 with the DELTA exploratory action. ITD is part of the core group of Kaleidoscope, the European research network shaping the scientific evolution of technology enhanced learning. ITD has participated in many international projects as coordinator and partner.
